Everyone loves a guide dog, but it’s causing problems for those who rely on them.

Wellington Guide Dog Instructor, Kim Norton and three Guide Dog teams were recently interviewed for an article on the problems Guide Dog handlers are facing in Wellington by members of the public interrupting and patting their dogs while they are working.

I wanted to share this article as, although I’m not involved, I also experience problems by well-meaning members of the public wanting to pat my Guide Dog Pedro when we’re working & not taking ‘no’ for an answer.

If you see a guide dog team out working, please ask the handler before patting the dog for doing so without permission could put both handler and dog in danger.
