My Life My Way are looking for people with disabilities to join our organisation to connect us with the people with disabilities living in our community and to identify and address the issues affecting their lives. We are also looking for people with disabilities to join our working groups.
On Wednesday the 20th of June from 10 am – 12 pm we invite anyone interested in joining My Life My Way to pop in for morning tea and a chat at CCS Disability Action, Cambridge Terrace, Naenae. If you want to join or if you have any questions email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
My Life My Way is a collaboration of people with disabilities, their families, organisations and other community members from the Hutt Valley. My Life My Way works with the whole community – whomever that may be – to make the Hutt Valley more accessible and more inclusive for everyone.
We aim to make the Hutt Valley a place where people with disabilities live their lives well, and as they choose, within their community. As a collective, we support local initiatives improving the way these projects support people with disabilities and their families. We believe that people with disabilities need to lead this change and that the majority of our members have lived experience of disability.
We are committed to action and we have two areas of focus: Transport and Information & Design. We have established two working groups to support these focus areas.
The working groups meet monthly and plan projects and events that enable My Life My Way to meet their goals. Recently, several members with lived experience of disability have left My Life My Way. We need to replace them to ensure that they continue to identify topical issues affecting people with disabilities in the Hutt Valley and to advocate for changes that will improve their lives.
