There are many important ingredients needed to raise a guide dog. Bikkie Day was on Friday 26th July and provided the perfect opportunity for people to bake and sell puppy-shaped bikkies to help breed and train Blind Foundation guide dogs.
Guide dogs act as the eyes for many New Zealanders who are blind or have low vision. They provide freedom, confidence, companionship – and most importantly independence.
The Pet Centre came on board this year, with staff baking bikkies for sale. Pedro & I spent some time at the Upper Hutt store on Friday afternoon, then most of the day on Saturday helping promote the important work Guide Dogs do in helping their handlers get around independently. Pedro & I are the only wheelchair Guide Dog team in NZ at this stage.
