What is Guide Hands-free?

Guide Hands-free is an all-in-one computer package for people who are blind or partially sighted which can be fully controlled by your voice. No keyboard or mouse required!

What differences are there between Guide and Guide Hands-free?

Guide Hands-free offers all the same great features as Guide and is just as easy to use. In addition it allows the user to fully control Guide and dictate letters, emails, etc with just their voice. Guide Hands-free can be used without a keyboard, although you can use one if you wish.

How does Guide Hands-free Work?

Everything in Guide Hands-free can be controlled with just your voice. If a menu displays, just say the name of the required menu option or the menu option number, and Guide will select that menu option for you. 

If typing a letter, email or piece of text - your talk will be turned into text. If you make a mistake or the computer does not recognize what you said, then with a single voice command, you can delete the last sentence or words and try again. As the computer recognizes what you say, the text is turned into speech and played back, so you can hear if the computer correctly understood what was said. 

The computer learns about your voice as you make corrections. To further increase accuracy, a voice training option is included. Guide Hands-free asks you to speak out certain sentences, then analyses how you pronounce these sentences to learn more about your voice.

Will Guide Hands-free recognize my voice? 

Even if you have a very strong accent, Guide Hands-free can easily learn to recognize your voice - you may just need to spend a little more time training the system.

What do I need to use Guide Hands-free on my computer?

To run Guide Hands-free software effectively, you will need either a 1GHz Pentium PC or Laptop, with a minimum of 1GB Memory and 1GB free hard disk space, together with Windows 2000, Windows XP Home or XP Professional, Windows Vista™ (32-bit), or Windows 7, a Creative® Labs Sound Blaster® 16 or equivalent sound card supporting 16-bit recording and a CD-ROM drive (required for installation). You will also need a headset microphone and Dragon Naturally Speaking software Version 10 or above. 

We recommend at least a 1GHz PC, with 2GB RAM, and Dragon version 10 as well as the Andrea VM181 USB Headset (6/6 Dragon Rating).

What about Guide Hands-free installation?

The installation of Guide Hands-free is very quick and easy. The software will guide you through the installation process with easy-to-follow spoken instructions, and will automatically install Dragon Naturally Speaking in the process.

When you purchase Guide Hands free, you will receive a Guide Hands free Installation CD, installation instructions, a Large Print Getting Started Manual and an Audio CD Manual.
